DNA Colombia is the Digital Nomad Association of Colombia, Bogotá chapter. We exist to connect English-speaking remote workers, visitors, and bilingual Bogotanos in real life — at lunches, mixers, day trips, and language exchanges across the city.
Bogotá's expat scene has always been fragmented. Facebook groups full of housing scams. Expat-only meetups where you never actually meet a Colombian. Pricey membership clubs that gate the community behind a paywall.
The locals were missing too. Bogotá has thousands of bilingual professionals — engineers, designers, lawyers, founders — who'd love to meet foreigners but don't want to feel like a tour guide.
We started DNA Colombia to fix both ends. Free. English-speaking. Open to anyone who shows up. Half local by design.
No membership fees, no dues, no upsells. We make our money through partner placements and event sponsorships — never from members.
A small group of long-time members rotates event organizing. We try to keep it light and unbureaucratic.
Every event aims for at least 30% local Bogotanos. Tables are mixed across industries and countries by design.
No anonymous handles. Members use their real name and headshot. Builds trust faster.
DNA isn't a sales channel. Members who turn events into sales pitches get a quiet warning, then a quiet exit.
Show up to at least one event in your first 60 days. After that, attend as much or as little as you like.
Genuinely free. We cover hosting and event costs through partner restaurants and businesses that give our members discounts in exchange for traffic, plus occasional sponsored event placements. We never charge members.
No. About 40% of our members are short-stay visitors (1–6 months), 30% are long-term residents, and 30% are local Bogotanos. You're welcome whether you're here for two weeks or two years.
Yes. In fact, we actively recruit local Bogotanos. Half the value of DNA comes from local-foreigner mixing. We just ask that members are comfortable in English (we run everything in English to keep things simple).
No. We started with that focus but the community has grown to include freelancers, founders, journalists, and bilingual local professionals. Membership criterion is simple: do you want to meet interesting people in English in Bogotá?
Once you're approved, you'll be invited to our WhatsApp announcement channel. Each event has an RSVP link. Some events are capped (lunches at 20, day trips at 12). First-come, first-served.
Yes, see our Partner page. We're particularly interested in restaurants, cafés, coworking spaces, and English-speaking services.
Not yet. Medellín and Cartagena are on our radar. If you'd like to start a chapter, get in touch.
Takes two minutes. Free forever. You'll be at your first lunch within a week.
